Message from the Chapter Servant
Dear brethren,
May the love and peace of Jesus be with you.
The year 2008 has brought great joy to the members of Couples for Christ Foundation for Family and Life (CFC-FFL) in Thailand when God manifested His intention for our community to be a part of a holy remnant, purified by oppression and pains, brought about by our discerned decision to resist being fence-sitters and remain “connected to the root” while restoring God’s original plan for CFC.
What a grace to be restored! The process was hard and painful, yet humbling and enlightening. We heeded the call to sound the trumpets and kept our eyes fixed on Jesus. This made us value the cross further while stamping on obstacles which came from the most unexpected sources. The resulting conquest was sweet and humbling and we continue to offer it all to Christ alone.
Many of us felt the big difference of being a community consecrated to Mary, Mediatrix of Grace. Couples for Christ have never been so Marian and the maternal guidance of Christ’s disciple extraordinaire has awakened a relationship with Jesus in so many of us which brings a more profound understanding of His salvific love and mercy. Our life, formation and service to become more parish-based, especially in the areas of family and life were strengthened with Mary being the Mother of the Church. Our first-ever Christian Life Seminar was commended to our Lady’s intercession and brought an unprecedented number of harvest and new members who are eager to serve in the Lord’s vineyard. And who will not notice our very pronounced and active advocacy of pro-life ideals? From the Philippine Congress to the streets of America and Europe, CFC-FFL has permitted itself to be used as the voice of the unborn. In hindsight, CFC-FFL’s consecration to Mary has taken us closer in communion with the Universal Church and a new-found consciousness in our spiritual odyssey.
The launching of this website means so much to us and is a source of great joy. It is a result of our collective prayers and labor of love and further solidifies our connection to the worldwide community of CFC-FFL. It is hoped that this website will also help us to live-out our core values and allow us to focus on our main mission of renewing families and defending life. This website is an affirmation of our love, total submission and service to the Universal Church that was established by Jesus a couple of millennia ago.
From hope in 2007 to joy in 2008, CFC-FFL has chosen trust as it’s theme for 2009 with God’s Divine Mercy at the center of it all. As God continue to form us to become the families He intended us to be, let us humbly entrust ourselves, loved ones and community to the Divine Mercy. May we always be grateful for the privilege of service and find joy in heeding the Great Commission, and eventually renew the face of the earth.
Our Servant-General, Bro. Frank Padilla says it all: “God has been merciful to us, and we want to become His instruments such that His mercy and love might be experienced by the whole world. We need to be prepared, by becoming holy men and women. And we need to do our mission with a passion, giving unselfishly of ourselves, just as Jesus has given of himself for our sakes. The call to holiness means constant purification, and a determination to go the way of the cross of Jesus Christ. There will be great challenges and trials, there will be human disappointments and frustrations, but we are to trust in Him totally.”
Sisters and brothers, the Lord has given our community a second chance to be at the forefront of the battle. Winning souls for Jesus remains our top priority. My family and I continue to pray that nothing will distract you in defending and strengthening God’s work no matter how intense the attacks of the enemy will be against us.
Be not afraid. Trust in Jesus.
For Christ, for Family, for Life
